The Engineering Process

The engineering method is a series steps that individuals (engineers and developers) use to develop a product or a solution. These products or solutions are usually used in everyday life and may solve problems that consumers or users experience.

Students begin by defining the problem and researching it. They then identify requirements that must be met. They brainstorm ideas and look at what others have done in order to solve the problem.

After they have created a list of possible solutions, they pick the best one and build a prototyping. This step demonstrates to students that they are able to turn their idea into a solution.

Students then test their prototypes in order to confirm that they are working as expected. They can also use the prototypes to make improvements to their designs.

Before they can have a finished design, they will probably go through several different prototypes. This iterative process teaches them that they must keep trying to improve their designs, and they can’t be satisfied with being done until they’ve tried everything to make the best possible design.

The process of engineering can be used to solve problems throughout a student’s life, whether they decide to become engineers. They can apply what they learn to any type of project, such as building skyscrapers or manufacturing sneakers.
